Care of adults in the last days of life

This is a one-day course aimed at non-registered healthcare workers or those with limited experience of end-of-life care.

The course aims to increase individual’s knowledge and skills in caring for people in the last days of life.


By the end of the course, you will be able to:

  • Apply the policies and guidance that support quality in end-of-life care
  • Identify individuals in the last days of life
  • Explain why it is important to support an individual in a way that promotes their dignity
  • Explore the concept of a good death
  • Manage common symptoms at the end-of-life and recognise when to seek support
  • Understand the importance of supporting and involving families, carers and those important to the person
  • Recognise the importance of self-care
