Hospice Care Week
We were delighted today to welcome Swindon South MP Robert Buckland, who joined us to help us celebrate Hospice Care Week, a national initiative which highlights the work of hospices across the UK.
Robert met with volunteer Tina Green, and accompanied her as he met with local patients who are currently on the in-patient unit.
Speaking of his experience, Robert said: "It is a privilege to meet patients and families currently in the care of Prospect Hospice. It highlights the fact that Prospect Hospice provides respite care for local people who are in the earlier stages of their illnesses, as well as end-of-life care.
"Today’s visit has also been an opportunity to highlight the invaluable work of the volunteers who do so much to help make this such a successful part of the community.
"Prospect Hospice isn’t just a building – it is a service run for the local community, in the local community and by the local community, and I have welcomed the opportunity to highlight that here today."
During his visit Robert also signed our Pledge Wall (hyperlink), which has been launched online and in Prospect’s shop, enabling people to make their own pledge of support to their local hospice. Click here to make a pledge for Prospect Hospice this week.
