Design a Prospect Hospice Christmas card for 2023

Be featured in our 2023 Christmas card collection

Grab your crayons, pick up your pencils and dust off your paint brushes as we’re looking for local young artists to design a Christmas card for our 2023 collection.

Each year, the hospice sells Christmas cards to raise money to fund end of life care for local people. The collection features a range of images from religious settings, local scenes and animals so there’s always something for everyone.

Next year however, our card collection will feature a design by a young local artist and the competition is now open for those aged 11 and under to enter.

There are no restrictions to the image you create. It could depict what Christmas means to you, it could be a scene that makes you think of Christmas or it could be something you think will sell well with our customers in our shops. To enter, your design must be completed on an entry form available from our shops and hospice reception.

You can also use whichever materials you like from charcoal to crayon, pencils or paint. We do ask though, wherever possible, that these images are hand drawn rather than digitally created and that there are no items stuck to the card as we’ll be unable to reproduce this in the production process.

How to enter

Entries must be completed on an entry form which you can pick up from any of our charity shops or from our hospice reception in Wroughton. This ensures that your design is kept to the size of our Christmas cards and can easily be transferred to our cards by our printers. To find your nearest shop, click here.

Entries must be handed in to one of our shops or into our reception by 5pm on Saturday 7 January 2023 and the winner will be notified at the end of January.

Please see below for full entry details.

The prize

  • The winning image will form part of the hospice’s collection of Christmas cards for 2023
  • 500 packs of Prospect Hospice Christmas cards will be printed featuring this image and be available to purchase in all our shops.
  • The winner will receive five packs (of ten) of the cards as part of their prize
  • If they wish, the winner and their parent/guardian will receive a tour of the hospice so they can see how their design is helping to raise money to care for local people.
  • The winner will be invited to meet the delivery of the cards at their local shop and help display it for sale on the shelves.

The rules

  • The competition if open to all those will be aged 11 years old and under on 31 August 2023.
  • The design must be contained within the 150mm x 150mm white box on the entry form. Anything drawn outside of this box will not be included on the final printed product. Should you wish to colour in the background, there is a 5mm bleed area to also include. This will not form part of the final design and will be cut off in the print process but is needed to create a smooth edge.
  • Where possible, designs should be hand drawn or painted.
  • The parent/ guardian agrees that the winner will take part in publicity with Prospect Hospice to promote their winning Christmas card. This may include featuring on social media and in local media.
  • Entries should be handed into a Prospect Hospice shop, details of where to find your nearest shop can be found here, or handed to the hospice reception in Wroughton. Postal or digital entries will not be accepted.
  • Entries to the competition close at 5pm on Saturday 7 January 2023.
  • The winner will be contact w/c 23 January.
  • Only the winner will be contacted as it will not be possible to contact all those who are not successful.
