Family Support Team Assistant

An exciting opportunity has arisen at Prospect Hospice to join our family support team. This is an amazing opportunity to develop your skills experience in end of life care, and work in a small, supportive and friendly team.

In October 2021, the Care Quality Commission rated our care as Outstanding. They said, Without exception, staff we talked with were proud to work for the hospice. Staff members told us the hospice was an excellent place to work and was made up of individuals who all have one common purpose; to provide high quality, person centred care.”

Hours: 26 hours per week over 5 days (Monday-Friday)

What is the role?

As a Family Support Team Assistant, you will be responsible for providing bereavement care, welfare benefits advice and emotional support to patients, their families and carers who are referred to Prospect Hospice.

Working as part of the family support team, you will work closely alongside our current family support team assistant, social workers and bereavement practitioner and wider multi-disciplinary colleagues and volunteers. You will be required to have open and honest conversations about grief and loss, assist in the provision of person-centred advice, facilitate informal groups, and provide practical and financial advice, which may involve help with benefit claims.

This varied role involves working across all Prospect Hospice services including our in-patient unit, the community, outpatient’s appointments and will be working with people on an individual basis, as well as in groups.

If you have good knowledge of palliative care or experience of working in health and social care directly with patients, families and carers, are person centred and have a passion for making a difference to the lives of patients, families and carers, we would love to hear from you!

Candidates will be required to have use of a car and hold a valid UK driving licence

Informal visits or calls are encouraged and welcome, please contact Jaqui Gullis, Clinical Lead on 01793 813355.

We offer a great range of employee schemes and benefits, including generous annual leave, free parking on-site, on-site café, employee assistance programme, wellbeing team, access to NHS pension scheme if eligible, Blue Light Discount Card and so much more!

Interviews will be held on Wednesday, 19th October 2022
