Registered Nurse – Inpatient Unit

Hours: 6/37.5 hours per week over 7 days. Including either long shifts or short shifts, alternate weekends and nights shifts. Shift enhancements apply.

What is the role?

Our nurses are responsible for coordinating and delivering end of life care to patients with life limiting illnesses – it’s all about giving our patients the best possible quality of life.

You will monitor symptom control issues and support patients in developing coping strategies for living with symptoms. You will also provide support for those closest to the patient, providing emotional and psychological support alongside other disciplines to provide a fully holistic and multidisciplinary approach to patient care.

Applicants should be able to demonstrate the highest standards of nursing care, be open to new and innovative ways of working, have a positive outlook, be self-motivated, have lots of initiative and be able to work well as part of a team.

We have an excellent working environment with day and night 1:4 RGN/patient staff ratios, well supported by an experienced team of Healthcare Assistants and opportunities for further degree/masters level study and development programmes. Dependent on level of experience, support will be given for education and development to ensure you become a qualified end of life specialist.

There will also be a requirement to work shifts in the community and work flexibly across both teams as needed.

What we are looking for:

  • NMC Registered Nurse
  • Interest in palliative care or relevant specialist field
  • A desire for getting things right & aiming for excellence
  • A compassionate and reflective approach
  • A willingness to learn and develop
  • Must hold a driving licence and have access to a car, and be prepared to travel throughout our catchment area

It would also be great if you have:

  • Experience of nursing patients with life limiting illnesses (desirable but not essential)
