Unfortunately due to Covid-19 and the associated lockdown and subsequent restrictions on social interactions, we will be cancelling this event for 2020.

We are currently working on a new date for 2021 and will update this page with information as and when we have it available. If you would like to register your interest, using the form below, we will send these updates to you as soon as we have them.

While the decision to cancel this event is disappointing, we hope you understand that our priority will always be the safety and welfare of our supporters.

Frequently asked questions

When is the event?

The event will take place on Saturday 5th September 2020. Sign-in will commence at 10am with the run starting at 11am - generally all finished by 12pm but stick around for our fun day event which will follow the run – as a rainbow runner you’ll get free entry!

Where will the event take place?

Lydiard Park, Swindon – use the entrance off Hook Street. Please do no not follow signs for the conference centre.

Will there be car parking?

Car parking is free, provided participants and spectators park within the designated event parking area (follow signs on the day). If anyone parks within the main car parks they will be liable for their own parking charges and any penalties.

Can I register on the day?

Yes. Registration on the day costs £50 for adults, this represents the £20 registration fee and a £30 one off donation in lieu of sponsorship and £25 for children. Please go straight to the info desk to sign up.

What distance is the run?

The run will cover 5km – two laps of a 2.5km route. Participants are released in three waves, runners, joggers, then walkers.

Is the route suitable for wheelchairs?

Yes. The route is suitable for wheelchairs, however, please contact our events team on 01793 816161 to discuss requirements.

Is the route suitable for pushchairs?

No. The route is not suitable for pushchairs due health and safety concerns of under 16’s being restricted when the paint is being thrown.

Can I register a group?

Yes. Groups can register in two ways depending on whether the lead wants to pay for everyone in one go or for them to pay their own registration fee. Own Fees: Choose a team name, ask everyone taking part or fundraising with you to enter the same team name when registering themselves. Paying for group: You’ll need each member’s full name, email address, emergency contact details and photography/videography preference. You can add register groups of up to thirty people in one go.

Where do I collect T-shirts and pre-ordered merchandise?

T-shirts and pre-ordered merchandise can be collected on the day of the event.

Will there be toilets & changing facilities?

Mobile event toilets will be available on site, existing toilets will not be available for Run the Rainbow participants.

Will refreshments be provided?

Please bring your own bottles/flasks of drinking water with you – there will be drinking water available on the day for refilling these. Hot and cold drinks as well as breakfast rolls, cakes and pastries will also be available to purchase both before and after the run.

Will there be face painting?

Yes. Face painting will be available before the run starts, cash payments only with all monies donated to the hospice.

Can I buy paint powder?

Yes. Paint powder can be purchased in advance upon registering for the event. Any remaining paint powder pouches will be available to purchase on the day before and during the run, these are priced at £3 each. We advise ordering in advance to avoid disappointment.

Can someone I know take my place if I can no longer take part?

Yes. You will be able to call the team on 01793 816161, no later than one week before the event, and we will update the details on our system. After this date, the person taking your place will need to visit the info tent (green Prospect Hospice gazebo) upon arrival and will register them in your place. We ask for a donation of £5.00 for swapping participants.

Can I get a refund?

We are unfortunately unable to give refunds to people unable to take part, however, you are able to swap your place as above. In special circumstances, , we can offer to transfer you to another event within the same financial year. Please see the T&Cs for more information on this.
