Starlight Walk – Back to the 80s
Location: Swindon Town Football Club, County Road, Swindon, UK
Start: Saturday 26th June 2021 @ 7:00pm
While we know we’ll be returning to this event in our 41st year rather than our 40th as planned, so many of you were so excited about the 80s theme that we’re going to keep it, giving you plenty of time to get your outfit sorted for the night.
So dig out those leg warmers and start crimping your hair because Starlight Walk will be returning to the streets of Swindon on Saturday 26 June 2021.
Our flagship annual fundraising event raises a phenomenal amount each year from those who take part and all the money raised by entry fees and in sponsorship goes directly towards supporting our care of local people living with a life limiting illness, and their families.
Entry fee is £15.00, if you book before 1 April 2021 the early bird fee is £12.00. Complete our ‘register your interest’ form below to be the first to here when tickets go on sale.
If you need any further convincing on how much fun it is to join us, scroll down beyond the form to take a look our gallery from the last Starlight Walk.
Can’t wait for 2021?
If you can’t wait for the event next year then why not design your own route for 2020? Many of our supporters have done this already as they missed the event this year and have reported back that they’ve had a great time. We particularly liked the outfits Clare and Max chose below!
Our fundraising team is also on hand to help you plan your route and give you ideas for raising funds. If you’d like to speak to a member of the team you can contact them directly on 01793 816161 or email firstname.lastname@example.org and they’ll be happy to help.
You’ll also find our sponsorship form at the bottom of this page to download so you can start collecting that all important sponsorship.
However, wherever and whenever you do you walk, thank you for supporting Prospect Hospice.

When is the next Starlight Walk?
Saturday 26 June 2021
Where is it?
This year’s event will start and finish at Swindon Town Football Club, The County Ground SN1 2ED with registration being held in the Legends Lounge. Warm up will be held on the floodlit area at the back of the grounds although the warm up takes place during daylight hours.
What are the routes
There will be a 10km and 15km route on the evening. The routes are circular so all walkers will also finish at the venue. When finalised, the routes can be found on this page.
When should I arrive?
If taking part in the 15km route, registration will be open from 7.45pm. Please arrive no later than 8pm to sign in. If taking part in the 10km route, registration will be open from 8.15pm. Please arrive no later than 8.30pm to sign in.
What time does the walk start?
If taking part in the 15km route, you must first register as above to be able to take part and will leave at 8.30pm. If taking part in the 10km route, you must first register as above to be able to take part and will leave at 9pm.
What should I wear?
Everyone will be provided with their own Starlight Walk T-shirt which can be collected in advance of the event (see below info). Lots of walkers wear fancy dress in bright/glowing colours – some people even create costumes with their own lighting installations.
This year we’ll be celebrating our anniversary and heading ‘back to the 80s’ so if you’ve still got the shoulder pads and leg warmers, bring them along too!
Remember to wear comfortable shoes and plenty of layers, including a waterproof coat, although fingers crossed it will be a lovely dry night!
Arrangements for t-shirt collection prior to event night are pending changes in relation to Covid-19. We will keep you updated on this.
You don’t need to bring anything with you and will be able to collect for your team if taking part in a group.
Please note you will be given the size you requested upon registering – we are not able to exchange t-shirts for different sizes until the night of the walk to ensure everyone is able to have the size they ordered first of all.
Can I park at the venue?
Free car parking is available on site but we would still recommend car sharing where possible.
Do I have to raise sponsorship?
Yes, we ask that all of the people taking part in the walk make an effort to collect sponsorship. This is a fundraising event and, while we receive some corporate sponsorship toward the cost of putting the event on, the registration fee helps to cover the administration and further resource costs associated with the event. Therefore all funds raised through sponsorship for our events go towards the overall £6millon+ that the hospice needs to raise itself to be able to continue providing our services to patients, as well as support to their family members.
How much sponsorship should I raise? / Do I have to raise as much sponsorship if I’m part of a group?
The suggested minimum sponsorship per person is £100. However, we appreciate that groups of walkers may be asking the same friends and family to sponsor them and it may therefore be unreasonable to expect quite as much sponsorship per person where groups are concerned. We therefore just ask that groups try their hardest to raise as much sponsorship as they are able.
Can I bring my dog?
Yes, dogs are welcome to join you on the walk given that you think they are capable and will not be in any discomfort.
I’ve collected in all of my sponsorship money. How do I donate it?
If you’ve collected in all of your sponsorship money already then feel free to return it, with your completed sponsorship form, to the information desk at the event start location.
Alternatively, if you’re still gathering donations you can bank it and return it all in one go via any of the methods below. You can then send in your sponsorship form separately but make sure it includes your full name and address along with the event name.
– Via the ‘donate’ button on our website – By cheque made out to ‘Prospect Hospice’ – Via your online fundraising page – Directly to our bank account (please ask for details)
Will I need cash on the night?
The bar will be open at the beginning of the event during registration, you may wish to bring your purse or wallet in case you want to purchase a beverage before you set off – card and cash are both accepted. We will also be offering some great goody bags which include neon face paints and other Starlight Walk treats – we will accept cash or card.
Can children take part in the walk?
As the walk is quite a distance and takes place at night time, it can be strenuous and tiring for children hence our promotion of the event to adults. However, if the child and their parent or guardian feels that the child is able to participate then he/she may join them for the walk but will need accompanying throughout. We recommend only children over secondary school age should take part.
The child will also need to be registered as a participant and will receive a T-shirt, however, as this is an adult event the only T-shirt sizes available are adult sizes.
We do have a Kids Starlight Walk which is ideal for families. Click here to find out more information about this event.
Can I register/sign up on the night?
You are able to sign up for the event on the night. As you will have less time to collect sponsorship towards the fundraising event, we ask for a slightly higher registration fee of £50 to cover both your registration fee and in lieu of fundraising. You are more than welcome to continue to collect in sponsorship on top of this though.
Please contact us on 01793 816161 or email email@example.com and we’ll be happy to help.
