Prospect Hospice temporarily closes all shops

March 2020

Prospect Hospice has taken the difficult but necessary decision to temporarily close all of its shops and distribution centres to the general public as of today.

All 18 charity shops and two distribution centres will be closed and furniture collections and deliveries will be halted until further notice.

Victoria Canavan, head of retail at Prospect Hospice, said; “We know our shops around Swindon and north east Wilshire provide a vital lifeline for many in their local communities and we are currently looking at ways we can ensure we continue to engage with our supporters but also protect them as well as we possibly can. We have therefore made the decision to close all our stores for the foreseeable future in order to protect staff, volunteers and customers.

“During this time, we know many people will be taking the opportunity to declutter as they spring clean their homes and spend extra hours in the house. We would be enormously grateful for any donations that people would like to make to us during this time but we please ask that you keep hold of these and donate them when the shops and distribution centres re-open and not leave them outside our shops as we will not be there to bring them in.

“Finally I would like to say a huge thank you to all of our customers and donors for their continued support of Prospect Hospice and look forward to seeing them in the near future.”

Hospice shops help raise over £2million each year for Prospect Hospice and are a vital source of income for the local charity which offers care and support to people living with a life limiting illness and their families.
