Every week, around six people who need a bed at our hospice are turned away. That’s patients missing out on specialist care and families missing out on precious moments together.
Currently, we can only afford to open six of our twelve beds. The others remain closed. This is not because we don’t need them, but because we don’t have the funding to open them. While those beds sit empty, patients and families are going without the care they deserve.
“We are urgently appealing for help to fill the gap left by a lack of government funding. Your support can help sustain our care for patients and families today, and help put us on a long-term path to opening more beds in the future.” – Jeremy Lune, CEO

Becca was a wonderful mum to her two daughters, Flora and Anna. So, when she was diagnosed with cancer, her main concern was the impact this would have on their wellbeing.
Becca spent her last three weeks at our hospice. She had a room looking out over the gardens, where she could see the flowers and watch the squirrels. But more importantly, she could spend time with her husband and daughters. In those final days, what mattered most was simply being together.
“It was as close to a perfect death as you can get. But a lack of funding means too many people can’t have a death like Becca had. People are suffering more than is necessary, and it breaks my heart..”– James, Becca’s husband
could pay for an hour of support from a specialist nurse, for a patient like Becca
could pay for sessions with a bereavement counsellor, for a loved one like James
could pay for the staff needed to run the inpatient unit for an hour, to care for a patient like Becca
No one should have to face their final days without the care they need. With your help, we can be there for every patient and family who needs us, whether in the hospice or in our community.
