Prospect Hospice is the leading provider of education and training for end-of-life care in Swindon and north Wiltshire. Working closely with you, our colleagues within partner organisations, we want to ensure that the very best care is available to everyone facing the end of life. This is why we provide education and development opportunities, all of which aim to encourage learning and build confidence in end of life care and support.
Prospect Hospice’s supporters will be embracing festival fever when they join this year’s Starlight Walk.
A firm favourite on the hospice’s events calendar, participants can choose to walk either a 10km or 15km route through the streets of Swindon. Walkers are encouraged to get into the festival fever spirit by digging out your cowboy hats, whacky costumes and glittery face paint – although this isn’t obligatory. Tickets cost £15 per person.
Taking place on Saturday 24 June 2023, this much-loved event already has a number of people registered.
Among those signed up is Lynn Parfrey who has been taking part in the Starlight Walk for many years. In 2019 she created Mandy’s Robins with friends and family following the death of her sister Mandy, who spent six weeks being cared for at Prospect Hospice.
“Mandy received second to none medical care in the hospice,” said Lynn. “They treated her with the upmost care and dignity. As a family we often look back on the last weeks with Mandy and remember it fondly and a huge part of that is because of the care we all received from the staff.
“We plan to do many more events to help raise funds for Prospect Hospice so they can continue to support other families like ours. We cannot express our gratitude and love for all they did for Mandy in her last days. Thank you for making an incredibly difficult time a little easier.”
The Starlight Walk is an opportunity for the local community to come together and raise vital funds for Prospect Hospice to help them provide essential care to local people living with terminal illnesses.
