Prospect Hospice is the leading provider of education and training for end-of-life care in Swindon and north Wiltshire. Working closely with you, our colleagues within partner organisations, we want to ensure that the very best care is available to everyone facing the end of life. This is why we provide education and development opportunities, all of which aim to encourage learning and build confidence in end of life care and support.
Wilson Tool, long-standing supporters of Prospect Hospice have reached an enormous total of £40,867 from their ongoing fundraising activates during the hospices 40th anniversary year.
Amber Neal, HR manager, and Faith Werritt, marketing co-ordinator from Wilson Tool said, “Wilson Tool has been raising funds for Prospect Hospice since 1999. Every year we would ask employees to nominate a charity and Prospect Hospice always came first, we then decided to make the hospice our chosen charity to support. It is a charity close to our hearts as over the years the hospice has touched all of us here at Wilson Tool.”
During the 22 years that Wilson Tool has been fundraising for the charity, their staff has enjoyed taking part in various activates to raise the funds, including bike ride challenges, holding games nights, quizzes, football leagues, cake sales, and fun days. They also hold a yearly Christmas raffle, where items gifted to the company by their suppliers are used as raffle prizes and all the proceeds from the sale of raffle tickets go to the hospice. Last Christmas, due to the pandemic, they were unable to hold the raffle as normal and instead asked suppliers if they would give a donation to their Just Giving fundraising page, and thanks to their generosity this raised a fantastic total of £560 for the hospice.
In addition to holding fundraising activities, Wilson Tool also raises funds for the charity from their vending machines and Prospect Hospice collection boxes placed around the building for staff to pop in their spare change. Prospect Hospice offers free end-of-life care to those living in Swindon and north east Wiltshire and relies on support from the local community to raise the £8million a year it takes to offer all of its services at no charge to its patients and supporters.
Lisa Curtis, major gifts and corporate fundraiser for Prospect Hospice said, “We are incredibly grateful to Wilson Tool for their ongoing support. The money they have raised has meant one of our community nurses has provided specialist care and support out in the community for 253 days, caring for people at a time when they need us most in the comfort of their own homes. Our community care is a huge part of the work that we do, and this valued support of Wilson Tool means we can continue providing a vital service for our patients and I’d like to thank them for everything they do.”
