Caring during your stay

During your stay at Prospect Hospice you will meet and be cared for by skilled and experienced members of the Prospect Hospice team. The team are skilled in assessing symptoms and support needs and they will be in regular communication regarding all aspects of your care.

In addition to our 24-hour nursing care you will also be seen by one of our doctors each week day, and as required at weekends. Together they will discuss with you your plan of care, symptom management and any other worries or concerns you might have.

Your comfort and well being are our primary concern, and we are always available to talk with you.

You might also meet our specialist physiotherapist, occupational therapists and family support team. They will consider physical, emotional and social factors that influence you, and help you to achieve the goals that are important to you.

The team is very experienced in caring for people with a wide range of symptoms and needs, and the in-patient unit has specialist equipment which helps ensure your dignity as you adjust to changes in your condition. We know that sometimes the smallest things make the biggest difference and our staff and trained volunteers also offer complementary therapies and hairdressing services to boost your wellbeing.

You will also meet our chefs, who will prepare you fresh food during your stay. They will meet with you each morning to plan your menu for the day, and will always offer an alternative if there is nothing that appeals to you. If your family or friends would like to bring a favourite meal or snacks  in for you as a treat, please let us know.
