For more than 40 years, we’ve been a dedicated, non-hospital, end-of-life care service for patients and their loved ones - around the clock, every day of the year. Our mission is to ensure that anyone can access the best possible expert care whenever and wherever they need it – whether at the hospice or in their own home. As a charity, we only exist because of the generosity and support of our amazing local community.

Prospect Hospice is the leading provider of education and training for end-of-life care in Swindon and north Wiltshire. Working closely with you, our colleagues within partner organisations, we want to ensure that the very best care is available to everyone facing the end of life. This is why we provide education and development opportunities, all of which aim to encourage learning and build confidence in end of life care and support.
Talented local photographer, Kirsten Murphy, has generously donated her 16 piece ‘Nature’s Seasons’ collection to be permanently displayed on the walls of those nearing the end of their life.
When patients arrive at Prospect Hospice for dedicated end-of-life care, their stay may require them and their families to spend long periods of time inside. These stunning nature images will be displayed in single rooms on the hospice’s inpatient unit, creating a home-like feel that will help patients feel more comfortable during what is a precious and difficult time in their lives.
Kirsten, who is based in Swindon, said: “The idea behind the pictures was to bring the outside world inside, and I’m delighted to donate these images to Prospect Hospice to offer some visual peace to those staying in the hospice who are unable to venture into the beautiful garden.”
Carolyn Bell, director of services at Prospect Hospice said: “I am delighted that Kirsten has donated these tranquil photographs representing the seasons to Prospect Hospice having been on tour at Royal United Hospital Bath and Great Western Hospital. This is an enormously kind gesture and will really help to enhance the ambiance of the inpatient unit. Our rooms all look out to the gardens here which our patients and families really appreciate and these photos, all taken in Wiltshire, help to bring nature even closer inside.”
Jacqui Gullis, clinical lead who works in the inpatient unit, said: “Kirsten’s generous and unique donation further demonstrates the passion and commitment of the people of Wiltshire in supporting our patients and staff at Prospect Hospice. Our goal is to ensure the best quality of life for all our patients during their stay at the hospice and the images will help deliver our vision of the hospice being a vibrant, warm and friendly place.”
Prospect Hospice is celebrating its 40th anniversary of providing care, comfort and compassion to local people nearing the end of their lives. The charity recently announced that it needed to raise £2million to fund the gap left in their income following the Covid-19 pandemic.
