How We Use Your Information

The generous support of our community has been invaluable to us since Prospect Hospice was founded in 1980 and it is thanks to this generosity that last year we were able to deliver our care and services free of charge to more patients and their families than ever before.

To enable us to provide the services that we do, it is vital we hold information about you. This includes your name, address, contact information and any donations you have given us.

What is personal information?

Personal information is any information that identifies you. This can include basic details such as your name, address, or next of kin, but can also include other information such as your fundraising activity, or donations you choose to make. We also capture information to use for analysis purposes, such as your ethnicity and date of birth. If you have agreed for us to claim Gift Aid on your donations, we will also keep information on your declaration.

How is my information kept?

Information can be written on paper, held on the computer, or both.

Prospect Hospice stores a lot of your information on the computer, to make it easier for staff to access appropriate information about you. All electronic records held on the computer are stored securely, and each member of staff has their own password to access information relevant to their job role.

Prospect Hospice and its employees have a legal duty to keep information about you confidential and secure. This includes paper and electronic records.

Prospect Hospice will never sell your data or personal information to any external organisation.

What are my rights?

You have the right to know how your personal information is used, and also to see the personal information we hold on you, and if you wish, get a copy. Please request this in writing.

You have the right to object to your information being used. Please let us know if you wish Prospect Hospice to limit how it uses your information.
