This session explores the principles and practice of Advance Care Planning (ACP) and the Recommended Summary Plan for Emergency Care and Treatment (ReSPECT). Designed for health and social care professionals, it supports confident, compassionate conversations with individuals about their wishes for future care and treatment.

This two hour session will cover:

  • Value of ACP and what it means to people you are supporting
  • Time to consider your role in how you might assist people to benefit from ACP
  • Types of advance care plans: ReSPECT, discussions/wishes
  • Legal/ethical considerations: MCA, LPA
  • Explore approaches to build confidence in conversations

Whether you’re new to ACP or looking to refresh your knowledge, this course will help you navigate sensitive discussions and ensure that people’s choices are heard, respected, and documented.
