The Swindon Panthers organised a memorial ice hockey match and raised over £5,000 in memory of their old team mate Darren Taylor, who sadly passed away on April 1 2018 after his courageous battle with Sarcoma cancer.
The event, which was held at The Link Centre, Swindon, on Saturday 25 May, raised an incredible £5,470.81 through bucket collections, Just Giving donations, sponsorship and ice hockey t-shirt sales, and was so busy, it continued on into the night at the nearby Harvester. The Panthers and Darren’s family were so blown away by the support they received that they would like to do it as an annual event.
Community fundraiser Vikki Rath said: “The evening was so well organized and the amount raised on behalf of Prospect Hospice is staggering. On behalf of Prospect Hospice, I’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone involved and I look forward to seeing what they plan for next year!”
