Prospect Hospice is the leading provider of education and training for end-of-life care in Swindon and north Wiltshire. Working closely with you, our colleagues within partner organisations, we want to ensure that the very best care is available to everyone facing the end of life. This is why we provide education and development opportunities, all of which aim to encourage learning and build confidence in end of life care and support.
Prospect Hospice is asking people to dust off their tongs, fire up the grill and host a barbecue to raise money to support the wide range of end-of-life services it offers to patients and their families free of charge.
Rob Tynan, catering services manager said: “A Chill ‘n’ Grill event is a great way of getting friends, family and neighbours together to enjoy delicious barbecue food and drinks while enjoying each other’s company. You get to show off your barbecue skills, they get to savour your culinary skills, while your local hospice and our patients benefits from your fundraising efforts – everybody wins!”
The hospice is funded primarily by the local community, each year it costs over £8M to provide the care that its patients and their families depend on. More than seventy percent of this is raised through the support of the local community through personal events like Chill ‘n’ Grill.
It costs £10 per minute to run Prospect Hospice services, and donating £5 can provide a terminally ill patient with a warm, comforting meal.
