For more than 40 years, we’ve been a dedicated, non-hospital, end-of-life care service for patients and their loved ones - around the clock, every day of the year. Our mission is to ensure that anyone can access the best possible expert care whenever and wherever they need it – whether at the hospice or in their own home. As a charity, we only exist because of the generosity and support of our amazing local community.

Prospect Hospice is the leading provider of education and training for end-of-life care in Swindon and north Wiltshire. Working closely with you, our colleagues within partner organisations, we want to ensure that the very best care is available to everyone facing the end of life. This is why we provide education and development opportunities, all of which aim to encourage learning and build confidence in end of life care and support.
Nine year old brownie Eliza Blackmore was greeted by a nurse at Prospect Hospice, who supported her Great-Nanny Sally, when she visited the hospice to hand over a cheque for £1,304, all of which she raised for the hospice in Sally’s memory. Eliza not only raised the amazing amount of money, but she also earned herself a well-deserved Charity Brownie Badge for her amazing deeds she completed while raising the money.
Eliza inspired many of her friends and family to sponsor her as she set out to raise funds for Prospect Hospice. Among her many achievements, Eliza took on a sponsored reading challenge during which she read five full-length books, held cake sales at Brownies, Rainbows and the staff room at John O’Gaunt School, and her very own concert that she organised and performed in herself. She also held raffles at the Nail Lounge and at Trevor and Jon by Amy hair salon.
Grandma Fran Westlake was understandably proud of all that her granddaughter achieved to raise funds in memory of great-nanny Sally Redfern. “We had thirty family members and close friends who came to the concert and I introduced Eliza at the beginning by explaining about the Brownie Charity Badge and what the hospice means to her and the family. Eliza then performed songs, played the violin and the piano and did both a dance and a gymnastics routine. Her uncle Steve Barrett, who joint owner of South West Business Finance, also made a donation of £100 to support Eliza’s fundraising. We are all so very proud of Eliza and grateful to everyone who helped her raise the funds.”
Fran, Wiltshire South County Commissioner, added that, without the support of Girl Guiding and their new charity badge within the new programme, the fundraising that Eliza did would not have been possible.
Prospect Hospice’s community fundraiser Hollie Ricketts said: on behalf of everyone at Prospect Hospice, our patients and their families, thank you so much to Eliza for all of her hard work and dedication in raising such an incredible amount in just one month in aid of the hospice. We really are truly grateful for her fantastic support and for all of the support her family and friends have shown to the hospice too, all in memory of her great Nanny Sally. We would also like to extend our thanks to Girl Guiding for supporting Eliza with her charity badge and we are very grateful for their new programme that encourages young people within the community to work with and fundraise for local causes.”
“The amount Eliza raised could provide nursing care for our patients for up to 63 hours on our inpatient unit or could provide 26 sessions for families and carers with our Family Support Team. The donation she gave to us today really will make a difference and help us to continue to provide the dedicated end-of-life care to people across Swindon, Marlborough and North East Wiltshire.”
