Highworth supporter's celebrate raising over £10,000 for Prospect Hospice!
A group of Prospect Hospice supporters based in Highworth have celebrated raising more than £10,000 for the charity in the four years since they first came together.
Prospect Hospice’s Highworth Support Group formed in May 2014 following an information evening about the hospice, the support and care they provide in the local community and the funds needed to continue to provide these services. Nine people signed up on the evening and formed the group, which has gone from strength to strength, and has now raised £10,313.00 for the hospice. Over the last four years, they have run many different fundraising events and activities, including their monthly coffee and cake afternoon, which attracts many regulars to St Michael’s Church Room.
Additionally the group have organised events including a jazz night, a wood turning event and quiz nights. They also hold their annual Teddy Tombola market stall to raise funds at Highworth’s May Day celebrations. Having achieved their five-figure landmark, there is no sign that the group are any less enthusiastic about their fundraising than they were when they first formed. “It’s a pleasure to have been a member of the Highworth Support Group for Prospect Hospice since it began, helping to raise funds for such a wonderful organisation,” says founder member Daphne Baylis. “Local and national businesses, plus the loyal people of Highworth and surrounds, are keen to help our team continue to raise funds at our regular pop-ins and social events. We really appreciate their support, generosity and encouragement and we couldn’t do it without them.”
Community Fundraiser Hollie Ricketts expressed the thanks of everyone at Prospect Hospice for their support: “Raising over £10,000 in four years is an incredible achievement!,” she said. “Thank you to each and every member of the Highworth Support Group for all their hard work and dedication to the group and for the work they put in each month to provide such wonderful events encouraging social engagement for the Highworth community and beyond. We really appreciate your ongoing support for the hospice.”
Hollie added: “Every pop-in and large event is fantastically supported by local businesses, the church, the council and the wonderful community of Highworth and surrounding areas. On behalf of everyone at Prospect Hospice, thank you so much for your generosity and continued support for our work.”
The Highworth Support Group’s monthly coffee and cake afternoon takes place every second Wednesday of the month between 2 and 4pm at St Michael’s Church Room. All are welcome.
