Shrivenham and Lambourn Bowls Club raise £500 for Prospect Hospice

A huge thank you to the members of Shrivenham Bowls Club who supported Prospect Hospice at their recent charity day in July, raising £500 towards our services.

The funds were raised by the members who attended the day, putting their match fees and any fines incurred while playing to good use. They also very kindly donated 10 per cent of the bar takings. Three matches were played in total, which were spread out across the whole day with intervals for meals. The food was provided by Ian Clarkson, bar chairman for the club, and his wife Carolyn, and fellow committee member Roy Dixon.

A fantastic £450 was raised on the day, with Ian remarking to Prospect Hospice’s community fundraiser Hollie Ricketts how great the day was, and that a lot of fun was had by all. A further £50 was kindly donated by members of Lambourn Bowls Club, who were visiting Shrivenham for a match the following day. They decided to support the aims of Shrivenham’s charity day and donated all their green fees, bringing the overall funds raised to £500.

Prospect Hospice’s community fundraiser Hollie Ricketts said: “I met with members of Shrivenham Bowls Club, and Mick Dowdeswell from Lambourn club. It was great to meet with them and I would like to say a massive thank you to both clubs for their kind and generous donation. Thank you to everyone who attended the charity match and supported the hospice so brilliantly, and thank you also to members of Lambourn Bowls Club for choosing to donate their green fees to the hospice.”
